Hey guys! I want to set up an online asynchronous IELTS essay marking service, with no live interaction. I don’t have a WordPress website yet, but thought I could do this entirely from a WordPress landing page. What would be your perspective on that? Thanks in advance

Hi Warren,
Without knowing all the ins and outs of that particular space, I would think you'd want more than a single landing page — though your homepage would likely handle most of the heavy lifting, as far as communicating your offering.
At a minimum, you'd probably also want to include a contact page, “About us” page, testimonials for social proof, and as you become more interested in search engine rankings, a blog and/or additional pages for the specific content for key phrases for which you'd like your site to rank.
Again, I don't know anything about the IELTS essay marking vertical, but this site looks like a pretty solid example: https://www.myieltsclassroom.com
A solitary landing page might suffice to simply communicate the features of your offering and explain how to purchase. But building trust with an audience of prospective customers will require multiple types of content.
Blog articles demonstrate expertise. A good “About us” page tells your story and communicates your WHY. A FAQ will answer prospective customers' questions and address their objections. And you might consider a separate page to show an example of what customers can expect.
Finally, a solitary landing page seems very transactional, whereas a site that includes multiple pages and sections as described above seems more stable and trustworthy.
Hope this helps!
This is a fantastic answer! Great pick for the example site, too. I’m impressed. Thank you for the rapid reply. Kind regards,
