I'm a bit confused in general about how much of a theme can actually be customized.  There will be an edit button, which makes me think I can edit a header, but the only thing I can do is change the words, I can't seem to change the location, or the color, or the font, or the size.  So I don't know if this is because I'm learning and I don't know how to do those things, or if the theme simply does not allow for those changes?  In other words, how do I know the theme's limitations? Thanks!

Hi Lori, That's a great question. Each theme is unique, and seemingly every theme developer has their own idea of what should be customizable... or not. Some themes enable you to easily replace header images, colors, or fonts. Others make decisions about design elements for you, and don't enable you to change them without editing the theme itself. Chances are, if you're in the Customizer and don't see a panel for changing theme options (like fonts, for example), your theme doesn't support that customization. The best way to tell what's editable and what's not is to look carefully at the documentation for the theme. It should contain a list of features, including what elements you can customize. This is also we recommend a very short list of themes that provide a tremendous amount of flexibility and customization. Hope this helps!
