I've successfuly uploaded the document. But I can't figure out how to do any editing within "raw html", let alone replace a document.
Hi Shawn
Sorry for not responding sooner - someone has done it for me in the meantime (without showing me!). But I will need to do this myself in future.
If you look at this page http://fenyo-musicmakers.co.uk/past-events/ and scroll down, you'll see a horizontal list of links: Artists Timeline Repertoire Sponsors Gallery. Three of these open as PDF files. When I went onto WordPress, I discovered that all these links are within "raw html".
I will be updating the information in the Repertoire PDF in future, at which time I will simply upload the revised PDF file to WordPress. However, I can't see how I can replace the PDF within 'raw html'.
Hope this is clearer. Thank you.
Jeanette
Thank you for providing a link to the page in question, Jeanette. It helps so much to see what you're trying to accomplish. Still, I'm not sure what you mean when you say that the links are “within ‘raw html’”.
To update those links in the future, first upload the new PDF file(s). Then, open the page in the Editor, and click on the link you wish to update. In the pop-up, click the Edit button to edit the link, replacing it with the URL to the new PDF file you just uploaded.
In this video, I demonstrated exactly how to upload a PDF file and create a link to it: https://wp101.com/tutorial/using-the-media-library/
And you may also want to review this video on how to create and edit links: https://wp101.com/tutorial/how-to-create-a-link/
With these instructions, you shouldn't need to edit any ‘raw html’ at all.
Hope this helps!
Hi, Jeanette. Can you clarify what exactly you’re attempting to do? You can’t edit the contents of a PDF file within WordPress. Are you trying to update or replace a PDF file to which you’ve previously linked? Once we’re clear on what exactly you’re trying to accomplish, I’ll do my best to answer!
