A friend asked me to help maintain our club web site whiile he is undergoing chemo. I am a HTML person, with some PHP - not a professional developer, but I do already maintain several sites the "old-fashioned" way. I have the site name, admin user name, and password, but when I login, I do not see any structure (like in an FTP client). I expected to down-load a database, modify it on my computer (XAMPP loaded already on my W10 machine), then upload back to the server... Thanks, Will

Hi Will,
While WordPress stores all of a site's content in a MySQL database, you don't typically actually update content inside the database.
Likewise, you won't actually edit any of the WordPress PHP files themselves.
Rather, you'll simply log into the WordPress administration panel and then edit the content within the GUI.
Out of curiosity, have you watched the three free videos in our “Introduction to WordPress” course? That might help provide some background. Then, you'll want to dive into our “WordPress 101” course to learn how to manage and edit the content on your club's site.
Hope this helps!
