I would like to export some information (prefereably into an .xls file) on my orders such as the purchaser, the item/s bought, the date, the purchaser's email address, and the amount. Would you please review how to do that. I see an import and export function under tools, but I am afraid to use it for fear of wrecking something.

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

For anyone interested, instead of purchasing the plugin recommended here, check out the free one. Search order export lite download and activate. Works like a charm and does everything I need and more.

Hi Janet,

The import/export function in the Tools section is not intended for exporting WooCommerce orders. It exists to export ALL your WordPress pages and posts, and sometimes other custom fields. But it's not exactly what you're looking for.

WooCommerce has an official add-on called, “Order/Customer CSV Export”:

https://woocommerce.com/products/ordercustomer-csv-export/

This add-on enables you to export orders and customers from WooCommerce to a CSV file easily.

Hope this helps!

OK, I may not be clear in my original comment. If I go to WooCommerce, Tools and Then Export, it shows me that I can export everything (default) or select from a number of options, such as posts, pages, products orders, refunds, coupons, media and a few others.

Right, but the default export functionality doesn’t include the ability to export the item/s bought, the date, the purchaser’s email address, or the amount, correct? For that, you’ll need the add-on I referred to above.

What does it export then if I request that it export orders.

Shawn Hesketh replied 9 years ago

The default export functionality creates an XML file, which is not what you’re looking for. To create a CSV file you can open in Excel, you’ll need the add-on I referred to above.

BUT, please feel free to experiment! Go ahead and create an export file and see if it will work for you. That’s the best way to find out. Hope this helps!

Thanks. I am chicken to try as I don’t want to ruin my site. The plugin seems way too expensive for the number of times I would use it.
