Hi Charles,
What exactly are you trying to do? If you just want to upload a Microsoft Word file for your site visitors to download, the process is exactly the same as the one we describe here for PDF files:

But if you want to use Microsoft Word to create content before importing it into your WordPress website... well, that's a bit more complicated.
Microsoft Word is not built to create content for the web. As such, when you copy and paste text from Word directly into the WordPress editor, you'll find that the formatting is lost in the process. You'll have better luck just creating your content in WordPress to begin with.
But if you really must import content from Microsoft Word into WordPress, you'll need to convert the content from the proprietary .DOCX format into HTML format.
The Mammoth .docx converter plugin converts .docx files into HTML, preserving the styles and formatting from the original file.
Hope this helps!
