Hi Gabrielle,
We actually covered that topic in the WordPress 101 video titled, “Edit Your Profile.”
But the short answer is that you don't upload or create your profile image from your site. Rather, you'll need to visit Gravatar.com to create your personal profile image.

I don’t understand the photo upload – there is no field box next to the photo in the profile form; the only clickable thing is Gravatar. Nothing says ‘upload your photo here’ or ‘click here for your photo’ – it does not show the current photo or lack of one. Not sure how I got this monkey-head photo to come up for this comment field – but it does not appear on my website – no photo of me appears next to my name, which is what I had wanted. help
