helping a non profit and they got rid of the front page.
I got a understanding it a simple click static page option? but it now not showing up in the header??

If it was a static page then in the wp-admin area of the site you would want to check the pages section and see if the page is in the trash tab.
The header that it sounds like you mean is the menu created to show visitors and if you need to modify that menu then you should be able to do so in the customizer or under Appearance>Menus depending on the type of theme you use.
