I can list events on the dashboard but I don't know how to move them to an interactive calander. If outside your scope of aid, just ignore. I am looking for advice on Calander plug-ins I guess.

By far the most popular and well-established event calendar plugin is The Events Calendar by Modern Tribe. The core plugin is free, though there are tons of paid add-ons if you need more functionality.
Sugar Event Calendar is another WordPress event calendar plugin that promises to be more simple to use. You might give it a look as well.
