Hey, Paul. Can you clarify what you mean by, “embed an image in Photoshop”? We only provide WordPress tutorials, not Photoshop. What are you attempting to do?
my blog post image has a size of 600 px by 600 px and the original image file is 5000 px by 4000 px. what’s the best way to resize an image? watch what i currently do with the link above. it’s time consuming and sometimes images are pixelated.
I saw what you were doing, but it appears you were attempting to scale your image in Photoshop? First, you can crop and resize your images in WordPress. Watch this video:

Still, I prefer to resize my images in Photoshop. but I just use: Image > Image Size and/or Image > Canvas Size
Does that help?
aha! once you’ve done that and to achieve an exact image size, do you create a canvas/new document with the exact size and ‘Place Embedded’ resized image and make adjustments?
Nope. I duplicate the file before editing. Then, I just resize the image in Photoshop using the Image and Canvas Size settings, and then Save. Once that’s done, upload the image file to your site.
awesome! thanks much!
last one… how do you compress the image to decrease the file size? i use tinypng, but not happy with it
Hmm… TinyPNG is actually my go-to recommendation. It’s by far the best compression utility I’ve found, and does the least noticeable ‘damage’ to images. Unfortunately, compression is always going to be lossy, and result in some degradation.
