I have the database from an old website that I would like to get content from to use in a new website that I’m building. I don’t need anything but the photos and text content, since the new site has a new theme. What is the easiest way for me to access the old database to get that information? The old site is no longer up and I have the data on a hard drive.
Hi Cat, i think the best way to achieve it is to follow this steps:
1. Try to recover your old WordPress on a stage environtment. Maybe pilvia.com can be helpfull with this point.
2. When step 1 is done, export all contect with the export tools of WordPress. Menu Tools then Export. You will get a xml file.
3. In your new WordPress you can import the xml file that you exported in the step 2.
4. Thats all.
I usually make this steps when i make a redesing of the web of a customer or simply i want to make test.
I hope it helps. Regards. Paul.
