I had someone build my site for me, and I see where I can edit pages, but I don’t see where to edit the footer. Can you direct me to where I can do that?
Many thanks!

Excellent question, Christine.
It's not immediately apparent where to edit your website's footer in WordPress. That's because it depends entirely on the theme that you're currently using for your site.
Some themes include an Options panel that include a field you can edit to change the content that appears in the footer.
On this site, for example, we use the Genesis theme. So I open the Customizer, select Theme Settings > Footer, and then edit the contents of my footer.
Some older themes make use of Widgets to edit footer content. So, go to: Appearance > Widgets and look for a widget area called, “Footer,” or something similar.
Still other themes don't provide a way to edit the footer at all. If your theme doesn't include theme settings or an options panel, you may still be able to edit the raw code of the footer file. Select the Appearance menu, and look for a Theme Editor link.
Now, it's possible the Theme Editor has been disabled for your site. Many web hosts disable the Theme Editor, because it enables you to edit the raw code for your theme files — and if you're not careful, you can cause your site to crash completely. So, even if you have access to the Theme Editor, be sure you've first created a backup before attempting to edit your theme files.
With that disclaimer, once you've opened the Theme Editor, select the footer.php file from the list of files on the right hand side. Make your changes, then click the Update File button to save your changes.
Before editing your theme, I'd recommend you first look for a Theme Options or Footer panel, either in the Appearance menu, or the Customizer.
If that doesn't exist, or your theme doesn't include a way to edit the footer, then go to the Widgets panel and look for a Footer widget area.
And finally, if you're tired of wasting time on it, just reach out to one of the WordPress experts at Codeable. They can knock it out for you in just a few minutes, for a small fee.
Hope this helps!
