How can I find a demo WordPress site on which to practice what I’ve learned from watching the WordPress 101 tutorial videos?

Hi Michael,

There are several ways to create a temporary WordPress “sandbox” website you can use to practice your WordPress skills or experiment with the latest features without impacting your actual site.

InstaWP.io is probably the easiest way to spin up a temporary WordPress sandbox site. You can choose which version of WordPress you’d like to use — even pre-release versions, if you want to experiment with the newest features in an upcoming release. A free account increases the expiration time to 48 hours, or sign up for a paid plan to remove the expiration altogether.

Another solution is to install WordPress on your own desktop computer with Local. Local is primarily intended for developers, as it essentially creates a private web server on your own computer, and then installs WordPress for you. You can create as many WordPress sites as you want, right on your own computer.

And of course, you can always sign up for an actual WordPress site at EasyWP, which is completely free for the first 30 days. After that, it’s just $25 for an entire year of Managed WordPress hosting! That makes EasyWP a great choice for creating a temporary WordPress sandbox site, and also for launching your actual WordPress website when you’re ready.

Hope you find one of these solutions helpful!
